Harrison will be going for his 12th win as a professional |
Britain's Audley Harrison will take on former Australian heavyweight champion Colin Wilson in his 12th professional bout in Sydney on 6 August. Wilson, who weighs 17st and stands 6ft 5in tall, will be the first southpaw Harrison has faced.
The 31-year-old Queenslander has won 24 and lost 16 of his fights, with 14 of his victories coming by way of knockout.
"The fact that Wilson will be fighting in front of his home fans, will no doubt make him raise his game, we fully expect it to be an exciting and explosive contest," said Harrison's business manager, Hazel Bruno-Gilbert.
Harrison has been sparring with former IBF cruiserweight champion, Vassiliy Jirov in the build-up to the fight at Sydney's Entertainment Centre.
"For the last 20 days Audley's sparring has been phenomenal," said Harrison's head trainer, Thell Torrence.
"Jirov is a tough, rugged former world champion. This kind of work will be invaluable in taking Audley to the next level."
Harrison will box Wilson over eight rounds and is the chief support bout to the WBA super-middleweight title fight between Anthony Mundine and Antwan Echols.
Former WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide has been forced to pull out of Friday's clash with Manchester's Mike Holden at the Norwich Sports Village. Hide, 31, has suffered an ankle injury while sparring in Las Vegas, causing the postponement of his 10-round bout with ex-British title holder Holden.
