Hide now wants to fight Williams or Harrison |
Former WBO world champion Herbie Hide knocked out Joseph Chingangu inside the first round at Dagenham's Goresbrook Leisure Centre. Hide got his revenge on the 36-year-old Zambian, who had beaten him in two rounds in September 2001.
It was a crucial victory for Norwich fighter Hide, who has now punched his way back into the British heavyweight shake-up.
This time it was Hide who showed little regard for the niceties, picking up two warnings before bringing the fight to a premature end after just two minutes and 33 seconds.

When Chingangu went down early in the first round, apparently from a slip, Hide hit him three times while he was on the floor.
It cost the Briton his first reprimand - but it also appeared to knock the last remnants of resistance out of the African.
A right through the middle put Chingangu over again.
He rose at five to take the eight count on his feet, but when a left forced him back into the ropes, the follow-up right left Chingangu on the canvas.
And although he half-heartedly tried to climb up, the African showed little inclination to beat the count.
Afterwards Hide said: "The last time I fought him, he hit me on the break. Everyone forgets about that - but now I'm back."
Hide has now set his sights on proving himself to be the best of British duo Audley Harrison and British and Commonwealth champion Danny Williams.
Hide said: "My message to all of them - Audrey [sic] and Danny Williams - is 'I'm coming for you'.
"Danny Williams is a pussy cat and Harrison says he will fight me in five fights time.
"I fought for the world title at 22 years old and won it. He's 31. What's he waiting for? Let's get it on."
