Junior Witter faces Jurgen Haeck on Saturday but his big moment will come when he faces Ricky Hatton in July, provided both win on Saturday.
Witter exudes the confidence one expects from a fighter trained by the Brendan Ingle camp - unorthodox stylists such Herol Graham, Johnny Nelson and Naseem Hamed all learnt their trade in Sheffield.
Since his challenge for the world title in 2000 - a points loss to American Zab Judah - Witter has made great strides in the junior welterweight division.
 Witter wants Hatton's belt |
During those three years, he has made no secret of his desire to fight Hatton, someone he believes he can beat with ease. "Its just a case of getting him in the ring," Witter told BBC Sport.
"Ricky's good at what he does but with my skills, my accuracy, my timing and the power that Im bringing through now, he wont be able to stand up to it."
This is not to say that Witter is underestimating Haeck.
"Hes got a good amateur record - I've seen one fight of his and he's got some good skills, good head movement and throws some nice quick sharp shots. He's supposed to have a decent right hand.
"He doesn't look the most powerful of opponents but is definitely dangerous and he's got some good technical boxing skills.
"But he's not at the level that I am at as in the awkwardness and the unusual (style that I have).
"I'm just going to go out and do a job on him - when my power lands he won't be able to stand up to it - and then it's Hatton in July.
"Frank Warren has guaranteed it at Maine Road in front of 40,000 fans so it's more or less set in stone."
Witter thinks he has what it takes to beat Hatton |
Witter expects Hatton to come through his test against Vince Phillips. "Vince Phillips has been an absolutely outstanding champ in his time.
"But he's come in late, he looks a little overworked and irate. I don't think he'll be able to keep up with Ricky.
"He has a phenomenal workrate and the style of fighter that Vince is, hes going to make it pretty easy for Ricky Hatton."
