Tszyu retains crown
Australia's Kostya Tszyu
Only one of the three judges gave Tackie a round
Australia's Kostya Tszyu earned a unanimous decision against Ghana's Ben Tackie to retain his undisputed world super lightweight boxing title.

Two judges gave the verdict to Tszyu 120-108 while the third scored the fight 119-109, the only one of the trio to give Tackie a round.

Tszyu said: "I did a boxing exhibition to show I've got not only brawn but skills.

"I wanted to satisfy myself. I'm happy, my team is happy. Somebody is not happy because he got a lesson."

Tszyu, who knocked out Zab Judah last November for the division's undisputed title, said he was prepared to take on all challengers for his belts.

He said: "I'm prepared to go against the number one contender all the time. I fought very well.

Tszyu was hurt by a right hand from Tackie in the third round but otherwise worked with hard right hands and solid jabs to frustrate the Ghanaian.

Solid combinations and scoring jabs by Tszyu left Tackie with no answers.

The Aussie rocked the African in the fifth round but could not topple Tackie, who has never been knocked down in his professional career.

From the sixth round, Tszyu launched a series of jabs that the bewildered Tackie could only flail against in vain.

Meanwhile Micky Ward won a majority decision over Arturo Gatti in a 10-round junior lightweight bout on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, Connecticut.

Judges Steve Weisfeld and Frank Lombardi gave Ward a 10-8 round and judge Richard Flaherty scoring the fight 10-7.
