Arthur eyes British title
Alex Arthur lands a punch on Darius Snarski
Alex Arthur has been promised a British title chance
Alex Arthur took the IBF Intercontinental super-featherweight title from Darius Snarski by stopping the Pole in the tenth round of their contest at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall.

And it means that the 23-year-old Scot's next bout could be a British championship showdown with Manchester's Michael Gomez.

It was the first time that Arthur had been taken beyond six rounds in his short professional career.

But he ground down his more experienced opponent, who was finally stopped on a technical knock-out in the third minute of the tenth round of the scheduled 12.

He is definitely going on to win a world title
Promoter Frank Warren
Promoter Frank Warren thought that "The Amazing" Arthur still had some improving to do.

But he said: "This is only his tenth fight, but he is definitely going on to win a world title one day."

It had looked like "The Amazing" Arthur would blast Snarski out of the ring in the opening round as the Polish fighter was saved by the bell at the end of the first round after a whirlwind combination from the Edinburgh man.

Snarski, who had won 12 of his previous 23 fights, showed plenty of endurance and came back into the fight until he was floored by a powerful punch to the ribs at the end of round eight.

Defeat was only a matter of time coming after that.

Arthur said: "He was one of the toughest opponents that I have faced, so I am very pleased."

Glasgow super-featherweight Willie Limond continued his impressive progress with his fifteenth straight professional win.

Limond dominated Birmingham's Dave Hines for the whole six rounds and had his opponent down twice before recording a convincing points victory.
