Holyfield plans Ruiz protest
Evander Holyfield is to launch a legal challenge after his draw with John Ruiz
Holyfield failed to regain the WBA heavyweight title
Evander Holyfield is to launch a legal challenge over the result of his latest meeting with John Ruiz, which ended in a draw.

Holyfield's lawyers plan lodge a protest with the local boxing authorities after the former world heavyweight champion failed to regain the WBA heavyweight title.

Saturday's fight in Connecticut was the third meeting between the two men.

Holyfield won the first contest but Ruiz took the rematch to become champion.

"Evander really thought he had done enough to win the fight," said Holyfield's representative Jim Thomas.

"I don't know if a fourth fight will be possible.

"Perhaps the WBA could decide that the winner of the fight between Ruiz and Kirk Johnson should face the winner of Holyfield's next fight."
