Parker represented Britain at the Olympic Games in Beijing |
A top six finish is the least Norfolk-steeplechaser Barbara Parker expects at the European Championships. Britain's top 3000m proponent of the sport will be heading to Barcelona for the first-round heats on Wednesday. "Everything is on current form and there are a couple of people who are slightly ahead of everyone else," she told BBC Radio Norfolk. "I have a really good finish. Sixth will be my minimum goal and of course everyone wants to go for a medal." The timing of the Championships could not be better for the City of Norwich Athletics Club member, after setting a personal best in July's Diamond League Meeting in Oregon with a time of 9 minutes 35.17 seconds. | I'm getting better and better and it's looking good for the European Championships |
That came shortly after her first-place finish at the UK Championships in Birmingham. "It's always great to be national champion, that's always one of the big goals for the season," she added. "It's going pretty well, I'm getting better and better and it's looking good for the European Championships." The King's Lynn-born athlete is still a part of the Norwich setup, but is based in Tallahassee, Florida.
