Rhys Williams & Elaine O'Neill make GB's European team
Elaine O'Neill posted a personal best of 11.39 secs last weekend
Wales' Rhys Williams and Elaine O'Neill have joined David Greene and Christian Malcolm in Great Britain's team for the European Championships in Barcelona.
London-based sprinter O'Neill makes the 4x100m relay team and Williams joins Greene in the 400m hurdles line-up for the 27 July-1 August event.
That is despite neither achieving the A qualifying mark time, both athletes having hit the B standard.
Greene and Malcolm had already secured places by making the A qualifying mark.
There is no place for Penarth discus thrower Brett Morse, though, despite his victory at the UK trials in Birmingham.
Morse threw his third longest effort of 61.45m and his personal best of 62.99m beats the B standard qualifying mark, but his record remains short of the required 64.50 A mark.
Malcolm ran his fastest 200m since the 2008 Olympics last Sunday
Cardiff runner Gareth Warburton's sights are on the Wales Commonwealth Games team for the Delhi event in October after taking second in the 800m UK trials behind Michael Rimmer in 1:48.31secs.
Veteran sprinter Malcolm, 31, has been selected for the 200m and the 4x100m relay in Barcelona after his shock 200m win in Birmingham and his fourth place in the 100m.
The Newport man's 200m time of 20.77 seconds was two-hundredths of a second outside the A qualifying time, but he achieved the qualifying mark at La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland on Sunday.
Malcolm ran his fastest 200m since the 2008 Beijing Olympics with a 20.50secs.
O'Neill, who finished second in the Birmingham 200m and third in the 100m, also impressed in Switzerland with a 100m personal best of 11.39.
Swansea Harrier Greene, one of GB's best gold medal hopes, booked his Barcelona spot with a win in Birmingham in 48.77secs, lowering his own European-leading time by 0.19secs.
Greene's training partner Williams finished second in 49.76secs, leaving him outside the qualifying standard but impressing the selectors enough to win a team place.
