Wallader must face a disciplinary hearing into the case |
British shot putter Rachel Wallader has been provisionally suspended from all competition after failing a drugs test. Wallader, who is fifth in the 2010 UK rankings, has been charged by UK Anti-Doping after testing positive for the banned substance methylhexaneamine. Her A sample found the presence of the stimulant and she has waived the right to have her B sample tested. The 20-year-old now has the chance to respond to the charge but could face a ban of up to two years if found guilty. The provisional suspension follows an in-competition test at the British University Championships in Bedford in May. The suspension for Wallader, who is coached by former Commonwealth champion Geoff Capes, follows suspensions given to two other Capes-trained shot putters, Kieren Kelly and Jamie Stevenson, earlier this year for failing to undertake out-of-competition doping tests. Kelly and Stevenson face a disciplinary hearing into their cases later this month. Methylhexaneamine is the same stimulant that led to four Jamaican sprinters being suspended last year.
