Gardener boasts a personal best over 100m of 9.98 seconds

Olympic athlete Jason Gardener is set to make a special guest appearance at the Intertrust Golden Series athletics event next month.

Gardener, who won Olympic 4x100m relay gold in 2004, will be meeting fans at the Garenne Stand on 19 June.

The 34-year-old became World indoor 60m champion in 2004, and has also won the European 60m title four times.

The Golden Series sees athletes from Andover, Exeter and the British Army competing against top local athletes.

Guernsey's team will made up of Island Games medallists and the athletes who are travelling to the Commonwealth Games in Delhi later this year.

There will also be a series of junior competitions taking place throughout the day.
