Jersey thrower Zane Duquemin is Delhi-bound after record throw

Jersey secured the Inter-insular athletics title with a 114-point victory over Guernsey this weekend.

The island's women led the way winning all their divisions at FB Fields, with Jersey securing a 739-625 win over their counterparts.

The highlight of the meet was Zane Duquemin throwing a Commonwealth Games qualifying standard in the discus.

His distance of 52.91 metres makes him Jersey's first athlete to qualify for next year's Games in Delhi.

Jersey head coach Andrew Winnie was excited by the team's strong performance.

"These athletes came out and produced performances of a lifetime," he said. "It was absolutely amazing to watch. Zane getting his qualifying time was just cream on top of the cake."
