Guernsey's Lee Merrien has broken the Island Games 1500m record, storming to gold in the event on Friday. Merrien's time of 3:49:58 gave him a four second winning margin over Joseph Wade from the Isle of Wight who finished second. The 30-year-old now has two gold medals and two new records at the Island Games after also winning the 5000m. The 1500m produced another Guernsey medal for Lee Garland, who finished third in 4:02:91 taking the bronze.
