British Olympic 400m hurdles bronze medallist Natasha Danvers will miss the European Team Championships in Portugal this month due to injury. Danvers suffered a hamstring injury in the medley relay during Wednesday's inaugural Super8 event in Cardiff. The 31-year-old had been on target to gain selection for both the 100m and 400m hurdles in Leiria. The Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the Team Championships is announced on Friday. Despite Achilles and hamstring problems throughout 2008, resulting in a loss of form, Danvers won an unexpected bronze in Beijing with a personal best of 53.84 seconds. | 606: DEBATE |
Prior to picking up the injury in Cardiff, Danvers' victory in the 100m hurdles helped her London South team - which she captained - to victory in the Super8, a two-hour inter-city contest aimed at emulating the success of Twenty20 cricket to boost falling attendances.
