Bolt set a new world best time over 150m despite the rain in Manchester |
Jamaica's triple Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt returns to the track on 11 June to race at Toronto's Festival of Excellence meeting. The 22-year-old, who ran the quickest 150m in a Manchester street race earlier in May, will compete over 100m. The 100m and 200m world record holder takes on 2004 Olympic 200m champion Shawn Crawford and fellow Americans Bernard Williams and Ivory Williams. Bolt will also be up against countrymen Marvin Anderson and Mario Forsythe. The street race over the unusual distance of 150m in Manchester was Bolt's first since being involved in a car crash in his home country in April. | 606: DEBATE |
He suffered minor injuries in the accident and was forced to miss his outdoor track debut at the Jamaican Invitational meeting in Kingston at the beginning of May. However, Bolt is expected to challenge the fastest time this year over 100m of 9.91 seconds, which he achieved two-thirds of the way through his victory in Manchester. Bolt went on to cover the 150m in 14.35 seconds, smashing the previous best, recorded by Italian Pietro Mennea, of 14.8 seconds in 1983.
