Devonish finished seventh in the 200m semi-final in Beijing |
British sprinter Marlon Devonish has decided he will compete in the 150m street race in Manchester on 17 May. The Olympic 100m relay gold medallist had pulled out of the run stating he wanted to stick to racing on the track. But the 32-year-old, who is in good form having won a 100m in 10.11 secs in Miami last month, has changed his mind. The race is also due to feature triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt although his participation is in doubt after he hurt his foot in a car crash last week. Bolt had to have minor surgery to remove thorns from his foot but is said to be making good progress. The elite athletes manager Andy Caine said: "We're awaiting an update from his management team in Jamaica, but understand after a few more days rest he could be back training early next week." Young British hope Simeon Williamson is also due to take part in the race. The Manchester event will start at approximately 1600 BST, with the final taking place around 1800 BST.
