Glasgow's Kelvin Hall will play host to the curtain raiser of UK Athletics' indoor programme on 31 January. The Aviva International will be one of the first opportunities to impress new head coach Charles van Commenee. Two further elite meetings are planned to take place on home soil during the indoor season. The UK Championships will be at the EIS in Sheffield from 14-15 February with Birmingham's NIA hosting the Grand Prix on 21 February. "The countdown to London in four year's time has already started and all our athletes will be looking to perform well at the three indoor events in the New Year at Glasgow, Sheffield and Birmingham," said UK Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos. "The indoor season is integral to our athletes' training schedules and I am sure they will make for great events as we gear up for another exciting year in athletics with the European Indoor Championships in March, where GB athletes topped the medal table last time out, and the World Championships taking place in August." The Glasgow meeting will see Great Britain and Northern Ireland take on the USA, Germany, Sweden and a Commonwealth team in the one-day event. Last year, GB beat the USA by a single point over 17 events with Beijing finalists Jeanette Kwakye and Lisa Dobriskey winning their respective events in the 60m and 1500m.
