Kelly Sotherton beat Olympic champion Nataliya Dobrynska to finish second at the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge in Talence, France Ukraine's Dobrynska came third behind Sotherton of Britain and winner Hyleas Fountain of the United States. Fountain scored 6,479 points, with Sotherton just 40 points adrift and Dobrynska another 10 further back. Sotherton, who was fourth in Beijing, said: "It's nice to get scalps and it has been a good weekend." The heptathlete added: "I have got one more race left, a 400m in Shanghai. After that I will take a break and then focus on winter training for the indoors. "I have finished second at too many indoor championships, twice at the Europeans and once at the Worlds, so it would be nice to win one." The European Indoor Championships take place in the Italian city of Turin next March.
