Kaneen won despite missing the start of race |
The Isle of Man veteran athletes' club's 20km and 10km walks took place on Sunday at Douglas' NSC. Peter Kaneen won the 10km race, finishing in 50 minutes and 15 seconds, despite missing the start of the race. The 20km race was led from the start by Michael George who won in 1.45:15. The sole woman competitor, Bethany Clague, finished in 2.18:55. No stranger to long distance, Clague completed two rounds of the 2008 Parish Walk, 170 miles in 48 hours, this June. "I discovered that running could replace alcohol and medication in my life," Bethany, who has battled mental health problems, told BBC Isle of Man.
