Williams hits the high road again

Norwich's Jackson Williams has set off on his latest endurance feat, running from John O'Groats to Land's End.

After his 3,086-mile three-month run across the USA in 2007, the 26-year-old ultra-marathon runner is taking on a slightly less ambitious challenge.

"Initially I hoped to try and break the world record, which currently stands at nine days and two hours," he said.

After training was slightly curtailed he now hopes to complete the 837-mile challenge in under 14 days.

In 2010, if all goes to plan, Ill be running across Australia, from Perth to Sydney

"Although the training preparations have been going well I haven't covered as many miles as I would have liked to, Ive been running about 100 miles a week, with six days on and one day off.

"During my challenge, if I run 96 miles a day Ill break the world record, if I run 60 miles a day Ill complete the challenge in 14 days," the former professional boxer said.

In comparison to his efforts of 2007 his current challenge is a sprint, he averaged 32 miles per day in the States, but the man who lasted three rounds against Amir Khan in 2006 says he has got plenty of miles left in him.

"In 2010, if all goes to plan, Ill be running across Australia, from Perth to Sydney."
