Williamson became European Under 23 champion in 2007 |
Great Britain 100m sprinter Simeon Williamson has expressed his delight at being selected for his first Olympics. Williamson, 22, booked his place after clocking a personal best 10.03 seconds to finish second at the UK trials. He told BBC London 94.9 "I'm very happy, it'll be my first major champs as an individual. I like the pressure, I like performing against big crowds. "I can get quicker, I don't know how quick but if I run like that over there then hopefully I'll make the final." Williamson has one more competitive race before Beijing when he competes over 100m in the London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace at the end of July. The Islington runner said "It was supposed to be the Tyson (Gay) - Asafa (Powell) showdown but the two are supposedly injured at the moment."
