Stoke's Nelson wins sprint silver

Nelson was the second quickest qualifier for the final

Stoke sprinter Ashlee Nelson took silver in the final of the girl's 100m at the World Junior Championships in Bydgodzcz, Poland on Wednesday.

The 17-year-old recorded a time of 11.49 seconds, finishing just 0.12 seconds behind the USA's Jeneba Tarmoh.

Nelson, the world youth bronze medallist, won her semi-final in 11.43 to go into the final as the second-quickest qualifier.

Meanwhile, Jamaica's Dexter Lee won the boy's 100m event.

There are athletes from 183 countries at the World Junior Championships.
