Usain Bolt beat Asafa Powell at the Jamaican trials last month |
The world's two fastest men Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell will go head-to-head at a pre-Olympic meet in Stockholm. Jamaican world record holder Bolt, 21, and 25-year-old former holder Powell will meet in a 100m showdown on July 22 in Sweden. The Super Grand Prix meeting is likely to be the last between the pair before a probable showdown at the Olympics. World 200m silver medallist Bolt was an easy winner over Powell in the Jamaican championships last weekend. Bolt, who lowered Powell's 100m record to 9.72 seconds in May, will run 200m races in Athens and London ahead of the Games in August. Powell could have as many as five 100m races before Beijing. He will meet American world champion Tyson Gay in London and will also race in Rome. Paris and Monaco are other possibilities.
