Merrien won both races at L'Ancresse |
Lee Merrien cruised to his second win in two days in the 4.6 mile cross country event held at L'Ancresse. Merrien ran with Aldershot's Ben Lindsay for the first three miles before accelerating away on the run in. Merrien finished nearly 20 seconds clear in a time of 24mins 50secs, with Jonathon Thewlis a further 30 seconds behind in third. His victory came only 24 hours after he secured a comfortable win in the 10km event at the same venue. More than 170 runners turned out for the two events at L'Ancresse. In the 4.6 mile cross country Guernsey's Steve Dawes and Lee Garland both ran strong races in extremely windy conditions to finish fourth and sixth respectively. Andrea Woodvine turned the tables on her Aldershot club-mate Vicky Gill to be the first woman home in 27mins 37secs. Guernsey's Martine Scholes shook off the effects of flu to finish fourth.
