James McIlroy
James McIlroy is hoping to get his career back on track
James McIlroy and Olympic long jump silver medallist John Moffitt will compete in this weekend's Woodie's DIY Irish Indoor Championships in Belfast.

McIlroy will run the 1500m at the Odyssey Arena while Moffitt will be in action in his specialist event.

Moffitt took the silver medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens behind his compatriot Dwight Phillips.

Britain's Sarah Claxton will race in the 60 metres hurdles against Derval O'Rourke and Jenny Kallur.

Moffitt set his personal best of 8.47m in Athens and his best mark last year was an 8.19m in Sardinia.

The women's high jump entry includes Deidre Ryan who set a new national record of 1.92m when winning the AAA's title in 2006.

She faces the former European Junior silver medallist Julia Hartmann of Germany who has a personal best of 1.93m.

The other big names competing in Belfast include Kenyan Richard Kiplagat who will be in action in the 800m.

The event is organised and promoted by Athletics Northern Ireland and the Athletic Association of Ireland and in conjunction with Belfast City Council and Sport NI as funding partners.
