Richard Buck will make his Great Britain 400m senior individual debut on 26 January in Glasgow. The 21-year-old from Pickering is part of a strong team chosen for the Norwich Union Five Nations international.
Buck has run for the 400m relay team before, but it is the first time he has been selected to compete in the individual event at Kelvin Hall.
He said: "I'm glad that they think I can do it and they've given me the chance to show I can."

He added: "It's justified because I have been progressing year on year so hopefully I'll be able to keep it going."
The City of York runner feels he is well on course for the World Indoor Championships at Valencia in early March, which is the final event of the indoor season.
"I'm probably a little bit faster than I was at this time last year, so that should be quick enough to get me into the World Indoor team," he said.
His next goal is to finish top of the Olympic trials, which will be held in July, where he will face tough competition from other runners of a similar age.
He said: "I'm consistently improving, whereas some of the others have had a few problems with injuries."
