New records were set in the opening round of the 2008 Manx Fell Running League on New Year's Day at St John's on the Isle of Man. Conditions on the three-mile course were challenging, with steep descents down the sheer face of Slieau Whallian.
Lloyd Taggart won the Men's race, in a record time of 20 minutes 36 seconds with Simon Skillicorn the runner-up, 25 seconds under the previous record.
Jackie Lee set a new course record, winning the Ladies' race in 27:17.
