Williams saw compatriot David Greene take GB's 400m hurdle spot |
Welsh 400m hurdler Rhys Williams admitted his frustration as injury kept him on the sidelines as Great Britain's European Cup squad was named this week. "I hope to compete before the end of the year, and will target a huge season in 2008," Williams told BBC Sport.
The 23-year-old, who won bronze at last year's European Championships, has been out with a foot injury since September.
Tim Benjamin and Christian Malcolm made the squad, while another Welshman, David Greene, got the 400m hurdles nod.
"I'm so happy that another Welsh athlete got the place in my event, there's so much talent in the country," said Williams.
"I've been desperate to impress and show on the track how much I've improved since Colin Jackson took over as my coach last September.
"But I've been injured ever since, that's one of the risks of a lot of training, you can pick up injuries.
"I just have to look forward now, I want to be one of the main athletes next year."
