Aikines-Aryeetey will run both the 100m and sprint relay in Beijing |
Sprint star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey heads the 38-strong Great Britain squad for next month's World Junior Championships in Beijing. The 17-year-old claimed a sensational 100m and 200m double at last year's World Youth Championships.
He also spent time in April training with Olympic champion Justin Gatlin.
Aikines-Aryeetey told the BBC last month: "I'm hoping to get a medal out there, but I'm a 17-year-old running against 19-year-olds."
400m runner Martyn Rooney - who finished an impressive fifth at the Commonwealth Games in March - is another squad member who will be expected to challenge for a medal.
Alex Nelson, who took World Youth Championship 100m silver and European Junior Championships bronze last season, goes over 200m.
And Emily Pidgeon, who has already won the European Junior 5,000m title, will run in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Further selections for the GB squad will be made next weekend and announced on Tuesday 1 August.
