Eva Massey produced a season's best in the shot final |
Eva Massey was the only Northern Ireland medal winner at the AAA Championships which took place in Manchester over the weekend. Massey produced a season's best of 15.59m in the shot to take silver behind Julie Dunkley (16.08m).
Paul Brizzel broke 21 seconds for the first time this season when finishing fifth in the 200m final in 20.95.
Michael Allen was a late withdrawal from the javelin event because of an Achilles tendon injury.
Another Northern Ireland performance included Rhiannon McNally's 12th place in the hammer (49.68).
Brizzel had clocked season's best of 21.04 and 21.03 on the way to 200m final.
However, while he finished strongly in the decider he was some way behind winner Marlon Devonish who was given the same time (20.69) as second-placed Rikki Fifton.
Gary Ryan had clocked 21.05 to qualify for the 200m final but, from the inside lane, he pulled up early in the decider.
Ireland did claim a medal in the women's 200m final with the fast-finishing Joanne Cuddihy setting a new personal best (23.57) to claim the bronze behind Joice Maduaka (23.24) and Emily Freeman (23.53).

Costin's time was a personal best for the event.
Eileen O'Keeffe won the women's hammer with a best effort of 65.62m while Michelle Carey (56.68) took a solid third in the 400m hurdles event behind Natasha Danvers-Smith (55.58) and Lee McConnell (55.82).
Fionnuala Britton produced a personal best (9:53.44) when taking second place in the women's steeplechase behind Hattie Dean who set a championship record of 9:52.04.
Colin Costello (3:48.74) was 11th in the men's 1500m final well behind winner Andrew Baddeley (3:41.18).
Deirdre Ryan's new national high jump record was the star Irish performance on Saturday.
After equalling her own and Laura Sharpe's existing mark of 1.89m to take the title, Ryan cleared 1.92m at the third attempt to make a major breakthrough.
Defending 5000m champion Mark Carroll could only finish eighth this year in a disappointing time of 14:08.08.
He was well-adrift of winner Peter Riley who clocked 13:46.68.

Colin Costello had safely qualified for Sunday's 1500m final by finishing fourth in his heat in 3:45.94 but Donegal man Gary Murray bowed out of the event after taking ninth in his qualifier in 3:46.26.
In the men's 400m hurdles heats on Saturday, Antoine Burke (53.32) and Ballymena & Antrim's Iain McDonald (53.25) exited after the opening heats.
David McCarthy failed to progress from the 400m heats when he could only clock 48.29 in the first round while Abbey's Elaine McCaffrey's time of 56.34 wasn't fast enough to get her beyond the initial heats in the women's one-lap event.
Ailis McSweeney was disappointing in the women's 100m where she exited after an opening heat of 12.21.
Laura Kerr was also some way off her best when she finished 10th in the women's javelin with a best throw of 42.19m.
Darragh Graham's time of 10.92 saw him going out in the first round of the men's 100m while Aoife Byrne's creditable second place in her 800m heat (2:05.62) wasn't sufficient to earn a fastest loser's slot.
Darragh O'Farrell finished sixth in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.30m
