James McIlroy failed to make an impact in the Oslo meeting |
James McIlroy finished last from nine runners in the 800m at Friday night's opening Golden League meeting in Oslo. The Larne runner was over five seconds behind winner Mohammed Al Azemi of Kuwait in a disappointing time of 1.50.06 minutes.
James Nolan was a solid fourth in the 1500m in 3.38.51, two seconds behind winner Brimin Kipruto of Kenya.
McIlroy opened his summer season by finishing fifth in Sunday's FBK-Games in Hengelo in 1:48.21.
The 29-year-old was fancied for a medal at the Commonwealth Games in March but he suffered a major disappointment by failing to qualify for the 800m final.
Karen Shinkins was a disappointing eighth in the women's 400m in a time of 52.86 which left her well behind winner Sanya Richards (49.82).
Those ahead of Shinkins, who clocked 51.9 in Doha recently, included Britain's Nicola Sanders who finished in 51.81.
