Benjamin has fought a battle against various injuries |
World championship 400 metres finalist Tim Benjamin returns to action on Friday in Oslo after missing the Commonwealth Games through injury. But the 24-year-old, who was forced out of Melbourne with a groin problem, says injury worries are never far away.
"I am injury prone. It's an ongoing process, about managing it and to stop it occurring," he said.
"I'm not 100% injury free but I never am. I'm getting sensations rather than pain but it allows me to race."
Speaking at the launch of UK Athletics' sponsor, internet phone company Vonage, Benjamin added: "I've never missed a season - I've had injuries and dealt with it and still had good years.
"I'm looking forward to that year like Kelly Holmes. One year it will happen for me."
Friday's race at the Bislett Games will be Benjamin's first since last year's World Championship final in Helsinki where he finished fifth.
The Belgrave Harrier will face Olympic and world champion Jeremy Wariner, whom he beat at Crystal Palace in July and world bronze medallist Tyler Christopher when he lines up in Oslo.
