Former European 100m champion Dwain Chambers must repay all the money he won when competing on steroids before he can race again after his drugs ban. Chambers, who tested positive in August 2003 and received a two-year ban four months later, admitted taking steroids for a year before he was caught.
The prize money he would have to repay is thought to be around �180,000.
The ruling by the International Association of Athletics Federations dashes Chambers of a quick comeback.
He had hoped to race Justin Gatlin and Asafa Powell in Gateshead on 11 June.
Chambers is joint holder of the British 100m record, having equalled Linford Christie's time of 9.87 seconds.
