Holmes is still suffering from an Achilles tendon injury |
Britain's double Olympic champion Kelly Holmes has pulled out of Saturday's Ireland City Games in Cork due to an Achilles tendon injury. Her manager Jeff Fund claimed the injury is not serious and that her withdrawal is a precautionary measure.
"Getting ready for August and the World Championships is the most important thing," said Fund.
"Kelly is being wise and cautious rather than running when she isn't quite ready."
The injury is the same problem that prevented her from running in the recent European Cup First League match in Portugal.
"She's getting regular treatment in Valencia where she is training," said Fund.
"Getting ready for August and the World Championships is the most important thing.
"If you remember we had the same problem last year although it came a little earlier in the season then, but it is responding positively to phsyio.
"It was initially a setback to her training but now she is on the mend."
