Kenteris and Thanou were alleged to have missed three tests |
The criminal court testimony of Greek sprinters Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou has been postponed again. The pair are accused of avoiding a drugs test and faking a motorcycle accident during last year's Olympics.
The duo, who had originally been due to testify in May, were granted a further postponement on Friday, according to their lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos.
No new date has been set but if found guilty when their testimony is heard, they could get suspended jail terms.
Both sprinters have protested their innocence, claiming they had the accident when rushing back to the Olympic village to undergo the test they missed.
Their coach, Christos Tzekos, faces similar charges and one of importing banned substances through his nutritional supplements company.
Kenteris and Thanou were provisionally banned by athletics' ruling body, the IAAF, in December for missing three drugs tests.
But they were cleared by an independent Greek athletics tribunal.
The IAAF has appealed against the decision and the case will now go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The athletes were re-suspended by the IAAF once the organisation decided to appeal.
