Radcliffe to defend London title
Paula Radcliffe
Radcliffe has won three London Marathons so far
Defending London Marathon champion Paula Radcliffe has confirmed she will take part in the 2006 race.

Radcliffe, the world marathon record holder and current world champion, also won the race in 2002 and 2003.

She broke the women's only world record in London in 2002 and 2005 and set the mixed-race world record in 2003 where she clocked two hours 15.25 seconds.

"This is great news and a bonus for London to have Paula confirmed early," said race director David Bedford.

He added that organisers would now have to decide whether to run the race under women's only or mixed-race conditions.

Radcliffe, who also won the 2004 New York Marathon, triumphed in the marathon at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki last August.
