Pickering puts study before Games
Craig Pickering
Craig Pickering has turned down his place in England's sprint relay team for the Commonwealth Games in 2006 in order to concentrate on his studies.

Pickering had been selected for the squad for Melbourne but feared competing in the Games in March would affect his first-year university exams.

He is now planning a full winter of domestic indoor competition at 60m.

And Pickering is still hopeful he will be selected in the British squad for the European Championships next summer.
