Alistair Cragg will run in the 3,000 metres at the European Indoors |
Ireland's Alistair Cragg has confirmed he will run in the 3,000 metres at the European Indoor Championships in March. Cragg scored the best win of his career last Saturday when beating Kenenisa Bekele over the distance in Boston.
The shock win for Cragg came after the Ethiopian Olympic 10,000m gold winner made a mistake counting the laps.
It was still a great run for Cragg and his world-best time for 2005 of seven minutes 39.89 seconds makes him one of the favourites for gold in Madrid.
A victory for Cragg in Madrid would see him emulate the feat of fellow Ireland runner man Mark Carroll who won the title five years ago.
