In the men's 100m, American Justin Gatlin won in 9.99 ahead of France's Ronald Pognon (10.05) and Jamaica's Dwight Thomas (10.11).

Russian triple jumper Tatyana Lebedeva won her fifth Golden League meeting and is one win away from the $1m jackpot.

The prize is split between any athletes unbeaten over all six fixtures of the league in one season.

Lebedeva took the lead on her first jump and made 14.94m on her penultimate jump, with world champion Trecia Smith of Jamaica second at 14.76.

Russian countrywoman Yelena Isinbayeva won the pole vault but failed to set a world record when she missed three attempts at 5.02m, one centimetre higher than her record at the world championships.

Gatlin, the Olympic and world champion, insisted that if he could get his starts right he could break the world record.

"I am working on my start," Gatlin said. "Once I have a good start, I think I can go to boundaries that no other man has been to."

American sprint veteran Maurice Greene finished last in the 100m in a disappointing 10.56.

In the women's 100m, Christine Arron won her fourth of five Golden League races, clocking 10.97 to hold off Me'Lisa Barber of the United States and Chandra Sturrup of the Bahamas.
