Wales' Tim Benjamin says he is eager to talk to 400m legend Michael Johnson about how to improve. The 23-year-old was fifth in the 400m at the World Championships in Helsinki, where he was one of the few British athletes to impress BBC pundit Johnson.
"I was really pleased by Michael's words, he said he'd like to chat with me and help me improve," said Benjamin.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing him at the Grand Prix final in Monaco where I'll pull him up for a chat."
Benjamin, who will compete in Monday's Welsh Commonwealth Games trials in Cardiff, agreed that the performance of the British team in Finland was below par.
"It was disappointing, but we're a very young team," he told BBC Sport Wales.
"Given a few years we can mature to fill the places of the British athletes who have retired in recent years.
"I'm targeting Melbourne now. My performance in Helsinki would have won me a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games, but with a full winter's training I'll be looking for gold."
