Title favourite Allyson Felix produced a powerful finish to claim 200m gold at the World Championships. The 19-year-old American started poorly but showed her superior strength, chasing down leader Christine Arron in the last 30m to win in 22.16 seconds.
Team-mate Rachelle Boone-Smith finished fast to take silver, leaving Arron to settle for her second sprint bronze.
Olympic champion Veronica Campbell ran out of her lane after a poor transition off the bend and finished in fourth.
"I knew that I was really strong and just relied on that," Felix told BBC Sport.
"I don't think it's really sunk in yet but I would think this is the start of something big."
Felix's victory ensured the United States completed a clean sweep of individual sprint titles in Helsinki.
