Germany's Franka Dietzsch claimed her second world women's discus title after dominating Thursday's final. The 1999 champion led from the opening round but sealed victory with a fourth-round throw of 66.56 metres.
Olympic champion Natalya Sadova of Russia had to settle for the silver medal with 64.33m while Czech Vera Cechlova took bronze with 63.19m.
The discus final was originally due to take place on Tuesday but had to be rescheduled because of bad weather.
"After the fourth round I felt no pressure any more, it felt like I had won," said Dietzsch.
"I just felt like it was my day to win and I think I would have won with every throw I had.
"Normally I hate the rain but from this day on I think I will love it. I got a good start and that made me confident.
"I also realised that my competitors were a bit nervous after the first throw."
