Qatar's Saif Saaeed Shaheen retained his 3,000m steeplechase World Championship title in Helsinki. The slow-paced race played into the world record holder's hands and he tore away from the field with a blistering last lap of 57.6 seconds.
Shaheen won in a time of eight minutes and 13.31 seconds, ahead of Kenyan duo Ezekiel Kemboi, who took silver in 8:14.15 and Brimin Kipruto (8:15.30).
Early leader Jose Luis Blanco, of Spain, faded to finish 14th in 8:24.62.
Shaheen, who was prevented from competing in last year's Olympics by his previous country Kenya, extended his unbeaten run to 22 races.
"I cannot tell you when I'll be beaten but it is my main goal to be unbeaten," said the 22-year-old, who switched nationality two years ago.
"It was a consolation for me because I missed the Olympics.
"I still want to give all in my career. I am on my way to the Olympics in China."
