Newly-crowned high jump world champion Kajsa Bergqvist is planning to attack the 18-year-old world record at the Sheffield Grand Prix on 21 August. The Swede cleared 2.02m to win gold in Helsinki on Tuesday and now says she has Bulgarian Stefka Kostdadinova's 1987 mark of 2.09m in her sights.
Kenenisa Bekele will also aim to break his 10,000m record at the Brussels Golden League meeting on 26 August.
The Ethiopian Olympic champion retained his 10,000m world title on Monday.
Bergqvist is part of a world-class high jump field set to compete in Sheffield next month.
In total, six of the top eight finishers from the world championship final will compete at the Don Valley meeting - including the silver medallist Chaunte Howard of America.
Bergqvist said: "The way I feel right now it's as if anything is possible and I would love to jump even higher in Sheffield.
"The line-up there is very strong so it's all set up nicely.
"The world record has always been a target of mine - and if the conditions are right in Sheffield, I would love to have another go at it."
Olympic high jump champion Yelena Slesarenko was also bound for Sheffield but remains a doubt after withdrawing from Helsinki through injury.
