Shaheen set for Bekele showdown

Shaheen was blocked from competing at the Olympics

Saif Saaeed Shaheen has accepted an invitation to take on Kenenisa Bekele at the Great Edinburgh International Cross Country on 15 January.

Shaheen, who won the world 3,000m steeplechase title last year, missed the Olympics because Kenya objected to his switch of allegiance to Qatar.

Ethiopian Bekele won the 10,000m title in Athens and is reigning world short and long-course cross-country champion.

World champion Benita Johnson is in the field for the women's race.
