Bekele to race at Gatehead

Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele will make his first outdoor UK track appearance at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix in Gateshead next month. The 10,000m world champion will compete over 3,000m on 27 June. The 21-year-old is already being touted as the natural successor to compatriot and track legend Haile Gebrselassie. "The British meets are well respected on the circuit given the history, the crowds and the traditionally strong fields," said Bekele.
