Sprinter Jason Gardener will lead Great Britain's team for this weekend's European Indoor Cup bid in Leipzig. Gardener, the fastest man over 60m this year, is part of the British squad to face France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Poland, Russia and Sweden on Saturday.
The British women's team, including Olympic medal prospect Jo Fenn, will take on France, Germany, Greece, Poland, Russia, Spain and The Ukraine.
The World Indoor Championships take place less than three weeks later.
"The GB Team for Leipzig is a mixture of outstanding individuals and first time internationals," said UK Athletics Performance Director Max Jones. "The European Indoor Cup will be a challenging competition for all levels of competitor and an excellent springboard for those intending to compete at the World Indoor Championships."
Gardener will once again be expected to boost Britain's medal haul at the World Indoor Championships.
UK Athletics has named 15 athletes for the Championships, but expects to add more to the final squad, which will be announced on 24 February. Jo Pavey, who impressed at the trials in Sheffield, will run in the women's 3000m.
Pavey broke the Championship record on Sunday in her first indoor race of the season.
The World Indoor Championships will take place in Budapest on 5-7 March.
