Campbell set for Birmingham
Darren Campbell
Campbell won a bronze medal in Paris last year
Darren Campbell will make a rare indoor appearance next month as he begins his preparations for the Athens Olympics.

The world 100m bronze medallist will double up over 60m and 200m at the Norwich Union Grand Prix in Birmingham on 20 February.

He will face British rivals Jason Gardener and Mark Lewis-Francis over 60m and Christian Malcolm in the 200m.

The Manchester sprinter, who tends to limit his runs in indoor meetings, is known for peaking for major events.

"I have decided to only do a couple of indoor meetings this year and want to compete in front of a British crowd and thank them for the support they gave me throughout the 2003 season," said Campbell.

Britain's world 800m silver medallist Kelly Holmes will also run in Birmingham, and world indoor triple jump champion Ashia Hansen will make her return after almost a year out with an Achilles injury.

Record-breakers

Top pole vaulters Svetlana Feofanova and Yelena Isinbayeva, meanwhile, will compete at the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on 24 January.

The Russians currently form the most prolific record-breaking team in world athletics, with 2003 seeing new women's pole vault bests indoors and out.

Feofanova broke the world indoor record at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall last year.

Isinbayeva posted a best-ever outdoor mark of 4.82m in Gateshead last summer.

Feofanova raised the bar yet higher to 4.77m three weeks later in Birmingham.

America's Stacy Dragila cleared 4.78m in March, but the Russian reclaimed top spot with her ninth world record of 4.80m at the World Indoor Championships.

Anyone who sets a new world mark in Glasgow will be in line for a $30,000 bonus.

Tickets for both events are available via the UK Athletics website or on 0870 4028000.
