Kluft is Europe's golden girl after dominating the heptathlon

Heptathlete Kluft swept to victory at the world championships in Paris, becoming only the third athlete to amass more than 7,000 points.

Olsson dethroned Jonathan Edwards as the world's best triple jumper,taking the title with a leap of 17.72m

Paula Radcliffe, who set a new world marathon record in 2003, finished as runner-up in the women's category.

Both Kluft and Olsson were unbeaten on the outdoor circuit last season.

The awards were decided by an internet vote with three sections for the public, the media and the members of the European Athletic Association.
