COMPETITORS' PERSONAL BESTS
Margaret Okayo wins the New York Marathon

Margaret Okayo heads the women's field for the 2004 London Marathon.

The Kenyan set a new New York Marathon record last month and organisers think Paula Radcliffe's world record could be broken in London.

"This will be a cracking race and the record could well be under threat," said race director David Bedford.

Also running is European Junior cross country team gold medallist Charlotte Dale, who will be making her debut in the London Marathon.

The 19-year-old Briton led home a strong squad to retain the title in Edinburgh on Sunday.

Dale won bronze in the European Junior 5000m in Finland last summer.

Other entrants include this year's Chicago winner Svetlana Zakharova and former world track and cross country champion Gete Wami.

There are six women in the line-up who have broken two hours and 24 minutes - Radcliffe's record is 2:18:56.
