Morgan sets sights on record
Nathan Morgan
Morgan will be a contender at next month's World Championships
Commonwealth champion Nathan Morgan is aiming to break the British long jump record at the World Championship Trials in Birmingham on Sunday.

Morgan jumped 8.26 metres in Hamburg last week to come within one centimetre of equalling the 8.27m mark set by rival Chris Tomlinson in Florida last year.

"I knew I had it in me, and it was as good a day as any to do it," said Morgan.

"I'm ready to go out there next weekend to try to improve on that."

The 25-year-old will be competing at Alexander Stadium - his hometown arena - and he plans to take advantage of having already achieved the 8.20m qualifying standard for next month's World Championships.

"I can just enjoy it. The pressure is not on me, so hopefully I can go out there and help the other guys get the qualifying distance."

Sunday's meeting also doubles up as the AAA Championships.
